ABVP announces bounty for Games of Ayodhya director
Leader offers Rs 1L reward for chopping off hands of former MLC.
Lucknow: Even before the controversy over Padmavati could die down, the Akhil Bha-rtiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has trained its guns on another upcoming film called Games of Ayodhya.
ABVP leader in Aligarh Amit Goswami has announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for chopping off the hands of the film’s director, Sunil Singh, who is also a former MLC and presently heads the Lok Dal.
The Games of Ayodhya is slated for release on December 8 after being cleared by the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT). The Central Board of Film Certification has refused to clear the film for release. The film apparently deals with the controversial subject of a Hindu-Muslim love story that is set against the backdrop of the Babri demolition in Ayodhya.
According to reports, the protagonist of the film is a journalist who was covering senior BJP leader L.K. Advani’s yatra during the temple movement. After his love story faces issues because of the demolition, he goes back to the yatra and discovers the political developments that led to the tragic event.
The director of the film, Sunil Singh, said that the Game of Ayodhya is based on Liberahan Commissi-on’s report that the BJP has now dumped.
ABVP activist Amit Goswami told local reporters that the Lok Dal leader and former MLC wants to earn “cheap publicity”. He claimed that the movie wrongly shows that Lord Ram’s statue was installed in a “deceitful” manner in the temple (disputed area) by Hindus.
He said that he will give Rs 1 lakh to any person who chops off the arms of the director of the movie (Sunil Singh). He said no Constitution or law allows anyone to hurt sentiments of any religion.
“If this film gets a release in the cinema halls then the administration and government will be responsible for any untoward incident that follows,” he warned.
The ABVP leader said that the state government should rethink before allowing the release of the movie. He threatened that if it is released in Aligarh then youth leaders and students will protest.
“I will kill him if I see him anywhere. He is trying to hurt our sentiments and we will never allow this. It is becoming a trend to malign Hindus through films,” he said.
The Uttar Pradesh police have issued an alert to all district police chiefs to be cautious at the time the movie is released in the state. This was confirmed by Aligarh SSP Rajesh Pandey.
