Ambedkar statue found broken in UP

Lucknow: A day after two Ambedkar statues were found vandalised in two districts in Uttar Pradesh, yet another statue of the dalit icon was found broken in Hathras district on Sunday.

The statue was damaged inside Ambedkar Park at Nagla area in the outskirts of the city.

SP Hathras Sushi Dhule said that efforts were on to identify the people behind the crime and the authorities are making arrangements to replace the vandalised statue with a new one.

Additional forces have been deployed in the area in view of the prevailing tension.

It may be recalled that Ambedkar statues had been found desecrated in Allahabad and Siddhartha Nagar on Saturday after which chief minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials to ensure that statues of such persons were not damaged.
