Chhattisgarh: One jawan killed, 3 hurt in Naxal blast

Bhopal: A jawan of district reserve group (DRG) was on Saturday killed and three others were injured in the improvised explosive device (IED) blast triggered by Naxals in Kerlapal area under Dornapal in Chhattisgarh’s south Bastar district of Sukma.

According to a senior district police officer, the incident occurred when a search party comprising personnel of DRG, anti-Naxal wing of Chhattisgarh police constituted with local tribal youths, inadvertently stepped on an IED planted under the road in Fulbagdi by Maoists, leading to its blast.

Four jawans were injured in the incident. However, one of them succumbed to his injuries while being evacuated from the spot, the police officer said.

The other three injured jawans were admitted in the nearby local government hospital. In another incident, a woman Naxal was gunned down in Bhoramdeo reserve forest in Kawardha district in Chhattisgarh on Friday following an encounter between the insurgents and security forces.
