Kanpur: In a bizarre incident, a monkey stole Rs 5000 cash from a toll booth in Kanpur and the video has gone viral.
The incident took place at the Bara toll plaza in Kanpur’s Dehat area on April 25 and was captured in CCTV camera.
In the video, a white car can be seen stopping at the toll booth. The monkey jumps out of it once it stops. It then enters the booth’s window. The toll booth worker laughs as the monkey enters the booth and climbs onto his shoulder.
But before he could understand what was happening, the monkey reaches for a bundle from the cash register and escapes the booth.
The driver of the white car has denied any involvement with this particular incident. Manoj Sharma, a senior official of the toll management company, said, “The stolen amount was Rs 5000. The toll operators tried to chase away the monkey but the effort went in vain. The monkey was trained.”
"A similar incident has been reported in the past where a monkey has made away with cash. A formal complaint was registered with the police regarding the incident. The police are investigating the case,” Sharma added.
