NIA grills Mirwaiz's aide, J&K businessman

New Delhi: The NIA has questioned a close aide of Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umer Farooq and a businessman from Kashmir in connection with ongoing probe into the terror funding case.
The NIA has been questioning Shahid-ul-Islam, a close aide of the Mirwaiz, and businessman Zahoor Watali for last three days about the alleged assets possessed by them, official sources said here.
Zahoor Watali has also been interrogated about his links with hardline Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani.
Sources said the investigating agency was likely to seek a production warrant from a special court against some other close aides of Mr Geelani, including his son-in-law Altaf Ahmed Shah, alias Altaf Fantoosh, as well as his spokesman Ayaz Akbar.
The two have been questioned by the NIA in the past and were also put under preventive custody by the Jammu and Kashmir police on June 27 in wake of the prevailing of law and order situation in the Valley.
The NIA in its FIR in the terror funding case has named Hafiz Saeed, chief of Jamaat-ud-Dawa which also acts as a front for terror group Lashker-e-Tayyaba. In addition, organisations like Hurriyat Conference, Hizbul Mujahideen and Dukhtaran-e-Millat have also been named by NIA.
