Lucknow: BJP president Amit Shah, railway minister Piyush Goyal and UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate the new Deen Dayal Upadhyayay (DDU) railway station, earlier known as Mughalsarai, on August 5. They will also address a rally on the occasion.
Mughalsarai, an iconic railway hub and country’s fourth busiest railway junction, was renam-ed after BJP’s ideologue Deen Dayal Upadhyaya railway station on June 5, following a request form the UP government.
The main building of the 19th century railway station has been painted saffron and a big rally is also being organised to mark the occasion. Mugh-alsarai is a part of the Chandauli parliamentary seat which is presently held by UP BJP president Mahendra Nath Pandey.
Meanwhile, the BJP also plans to install a 63-foot-tall statue of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya on the Varanasi-Chandauli border and Mr Shah and Yogi Adityanath will also lay the foundation stone for the construction of the platform on which the proposed statue will stand.
