New Delhi: As the poll scene in Karnataka heats up, BSP chief Mayawati, who is fighting the Assembly elections in an alliance with the Janata Dal (Secular), will be on her second leg of campaigning in the state on May 5-6.

The BSP, which has formed its first official alliance with the JD(S) in the run up to the 2019 general elections, is contesting 20 seats in the May 12 Karnataka polls.

Ms Mayawati would be campaigning in Kolar, Raichur and Bidar on May 5-6. In her first phase of her campaigning, she had campaigned in Mysuru and Chitradurga.

JD(S) General Secretary Danish Ali told this newspaper: “This would be her (Mayawati) second and last leg of campaigning in the state”.

The BSP, which was reduced to one of its worst performances in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls, has entered into a strategic seat-sharing with Samajwadi Party in the state which cost the ruling BJP two crucial bypolls in Gorakhpur and Phulpur. The party has also entered into an alliance with the Indian National Lok Dal in Haryana.
