State sets up OPDs to tackle heat related issues

The authorities have warned District Administrations about possible high temperatures, especially in May.

Mumbai: Maharashtra and several areas there, especially Vidarbha, are lurching due to severe heat-wave. The government has already issued an advisory and will be assisting with primary medical care in affected areas.

There would be an Outpatient Department (OPD), articulated by the State Health Department, specifically to tackle heat-related issues in the affected areas. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) officials, temperatures in Konkan and Mumbai have rised as well. City based state and civic  hospitals have already started treating dehydration cases in their OPDs.

“We have started special OPDs to treat heat wave related conditions,” Joint Director of the Directorate of Health Services Dr. Mukund Diggikar said.

“Heat wave conditions continue to sweep the entire state, especially in Vidarbha region. We have released an advisory and have alerted all our hospitals to tackle this cases on priority basis,” Dr. Diggikar said.

Dr. Diggikar stated that to avoid heat-related ailments, people should prefer to remain indoors. Drinking clean and warm water can give relief from heat-related issues.

Mumbaikars will also face severe heat in the next three days and the temperature is likely to reach up to 35 degree celsius. According to IMD, during the next three days, people will have to face severe heat. Rising temperature warning has been given in Vidarbha region for the next three days.
