Centre forms many Cabinet Committees

NEW DELHI: The NDA government has announced the formation of various Cabinet committees, including the country's highest decision-making bodies on security, economic, and political affairs.

Cabinet ministers H.D. Kumaraswamy and Rajiv Ranjan Singh, also known as Lalan Singh, from alliance partners JD-S and JD-U respectively, have been included in the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA).

According to an official notification, the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) comprises Prime Minister Narendra Modi, defence minister Rajnath Singh, home minister Amit Shah, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and external affairs minister S, Jaishankar.

The CCEA, in addition to Modi, includes the defence minister, home minister, finance minister, and external affairs minister, as well as road transport and highways minister Nitin Gadkari, agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, and heavy industries and steel minister H.D. Kumaraswamy. Other members are commerce minister Piyush Goyal, education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and minister of panchayati raj and fisheries Lalan Singh.

The Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs includes the defence minister, home minister, finance minister, panchayati raj minister, health minister J.P. Nadda, social justice minister Virendra Kumar, civil aviation minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, tribal affairs minister Jual Oram, Parliamentary affairs minister Kiren Rijiju, and minister of jal shakti C.R. Patil. Special invitees are Union minister of state for law (Independent charge) Arjun Ram Meghwal and minister of state for Parliamentary affairs L. Murugan.

The Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs is composed of Prime Minister Modi, the defence minister, home minister, finance minister, road transport and highways minister, commerce minister, Parliamentary affairs minister, health minister J.P. Nadda, micro, small and medium enterprises minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, civil aviation minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, minister of ports, shipping and waterways Sarbananda Sonowal, environment minister Bhupender Yadav, minister of women and child development Annpurna Devi, and coal minister G. Kishan Reddy.

The Cabinet Committee on Investment and Growth includes the Prime Minister, defence minister, home minister, Road Transport and Highways Minister, finance minister, commerce and industry minister, consumer affairs minister Pralhad Joshi, textiles minister Giriraj Singh, railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, communication minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, petroleum minister Hardeep Singh Puri, and food processing industries minister Chirag Paswan. Special invitees are minister of state (Independent charge) for the ministry of statistics and programme implementation Rao Inderjit Singh and minister of state (Independent charge) of the ministry of ayush Prataprao Jadhav.
