Get Feedback of Jitni Abadi, Utna Haq': BJP
The Prime Minister had criticised this demand during an election rally recently noting that the demand is anti-minorities and anti-region
New Delhi: With the Lok Sabha elections fast approaching and the Opposition leaders pushing for ‘Jitni Abadi Utna Haq’ (rights proportional to the population), the BJP has asked its state units to get feedback on this demand and its “real impact” on the ground ahead of the crucial electoral battle.
The Opposition leaders demand is being seen as a measure mainly to woo the numerically dominant OBC category, which has been favouring the Narendra Modi-led BJP since 2014.
The Prime Minister had criticised this demand during an election rally recently noting that the demand is anti-minorities and anti-region. While there are murmurs in the BJP of a nation-wide “soon-to-be-launched counter-attack” to take on the Opposition’s demand, the BJP has asked its state units and various morchas to be prepared with aggressive reach-out campaigns highlighting how the ‘Jitni Abadi Utna Haq’ demand is “divisive, anti-middle class”.
