New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who had performed the bhoomi pujan of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya in 2020, could also perform the ritual of carrying the existing idol from the makeshift temple site to the sanctum sanctorum of the newly constructed Ram Mandir on January 22, where the pran prathishtha (consecration) of one of the three idols being sculpted will be placed during a grand ceremony.

For the consecration ceremony, the Shri Ram Janambhoomi Teerth Kshetra, the trust that is looking after the construction of the temple, has invited Mr Modi, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath, his counterparts from several states, representatives of some countries, 3,500 saints and nearly 4,500 dignitaries. Invites will also be sent to the family members of some of the Karsevaks who died during the Ramjanambhoomi agitation.

For the ceremony, the Prime Minister will have to let go of his security protocol as he will need to walk nearly 500 metres from the makeshift temple to the sanctum sanctorum.

The RSS’s annual three-day-long meet in Bhuj, beginning on November 5, will also discuss how to celebrate the completion of the temple and chart out events to mark the occasion across the nation.
