Choose mother or jail, judge asks man
She has been living with her elder son Narmada,, ever since her husband passed away a decade ago.
Bhopal: It was a judgment which was not at all harsh but embarrassing for an “accused” here.
A local court here on Monday warned one Rakesh Sahu, a class three employee of Madhya Pradesh government, to send him to jail if he failed to take care of his mother.
“Next time, I hear complaint of negligence from your mother, I will not hesitate to send you to jail”, local sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Mukul Gupta warned while disposing of the case.
Eighty seven-year-old Gyarsi Sahu filed a case in the SDM court pleading to direct her son to give maintenance money to ensure here to lead a hassle free life.
She moved the SDM after her repeated pleas to Rakesh to pay Rs 4,000 per month towards expenses on her food and medicines had failed to move him. She has been living with her elder son Narmada,, ever since her husband passed away a decade ago.
Her younger son, who was staying separately, used to pay maintenance cost of Rs 4,000 every month to her earlier.
He had stopped paying the money since last several months. In his judgment, the judge ordered Rakesh and Narmada to pay Rs 8,000 and Rs 4,000 per month respectively towards her maintenance cost.
