Kolkata: 2 people died and at least 6 were injured after the Capital Express derailed in Alipirduar in West Bengal around 9 pm on Tuesday.

According to the Northeast Frontier Railway, the engine and the coach adjacent to it derailed.
The injured have been rushed to Alipurduar district hospital for treatment and relief and rescue work is underway, said Alipurduar DRM Sanjiv Kishore.

Train derailments have become frequent of late. Two weeks ago, 14 coaches of the Indore-Patna express ran off the tracks near Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, killing over 140 people.
