Lucknow: The police on Wednesday arrested a quack accused of infecting 46 people with HIV by using the same syringe on multiple users in Uttar Pradesh’s Unnao district.

Rajendra Kumar Yadav was arrested on a tip-off and is being questioned by the police, said SP Unnao Pushpanjali Devi. The accused is facing criminal charges of impersonation and endangering human lives. Medical instruments found in his possession have been sent for forensic examination.

It may be recalled that the police swung into action after 40 people tested HIV positive. With more tests, the number rose to 46 and almost all the patients claimed that they had taken injections from Mr Yadav.
