Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati , on Saturday, strongly criticized BJP president Amit Shah for comparing opposition leaders to 'snakes', 'mongoose', 'dogs' and 'cats'.

The BSP president said that prior to the Lok Sabha by-elections in Gorakhpur and Phulpur, chief minister Yogi Adityanath had used similar language and the people had taught a lesson to the BJP by defeating them.

"The remarks by Mr Amit Shah prove that the standards of the party have fallen to grounds under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah. Will the BJP form a new India like this, by using foul and inadequate language? Does it suit the ruling party of India", she asked.

Ms Mayawati said that the BJP was isolated and left alone by its allies for its overconfidence and ego and was facing a no-confidence motion by its old ally Telugu Desam Party (TDP) for its non-fulfilment of promises made in Andhra Pradesh during the bifurcation of the state.
