Second extension for P.K. Sinha, CabSec stays till June 2019
Cabinet Secretary Pradeep Kumar Sinha on Monday got a second extension of one year and will remain in office till June 2019.
New Delhi: Cabinet Secretary Pradeep Kumar Sinha on Monday got a second extension of one year and will remain in office till June 2019. The Appointments Commi-ttee of the Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved his extension till June 12 next year, the DoPT announced.
Mr Sinha, a retired 1977 batch IAS officer of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, was appointed Cabinet Secretary for a fixed two-year term in May 2015. Last year when his fixed tenure was about to end, Mr Sinha was given a one-year extension.
Prior to his appointment as Cabinet Secretary, he was the Union power secretary. Mr Sinha succeeded Ajit Seth, who had held the position for four years.
Mr Sinha had earlier served as shipping secretary and had also held several other important positions in the Union government and in his cadre state, Uttar Pradesh.
