Tamil Nadu tourist injured by stone dies in Srinagar

Four other people, including a girl from Handwara area, were injured in the incident, police sources said.

Srinagar: A tourist from Tamil Nadu died in a Srinagar hospital on Monday evening, hours after he was hit by a stone during a clash between protesters and the security for-ces at Narabal on the outskirts of the city.

R. Thirumani, 22, a resident of Chennai, was hit by a stone when the vehicle in which he was travelling from Srinagar to Gulmarg, along with his family, was caught in the clash between a stone-pelting crowd and the security forces near Narabal bridge in the morning.

“He was critically injured in his face. He was rushed to hospital where he passed away in the evening,” a police official said.

Four other people, including a girl from Handwara area, were injured in the incident, police sources said.

CM Mehbooba Mufti visited the police hospital here after learning about the death of the tourist.
