UP: 6 killed as two sand-laden trucks collide in Kanpur

At least 10 people injured in the accident were admitted to Hamirpur and Lala Lajpat Rai hospital where one of them succumbed to injuries.

Kanpur: Six people were killed and nine seriously injured in an accident involving two trucks near the Sajeti police station area in Kanpur on Friday.

A truck heading towards Hamirpur ploughed into another sand-laden truck coming from the opposite direction while trying to save some people on motorcycles, who were also injured, Sajeti police station officiating in-charge Chandra Dev Yadav said.

The locals pulled the bodies and the injured persons out of the mangled vehicles.

At least 10 people injured in the accident were admitted to the district hospital in Hamirpur and Lala Lajpat Rai hospital in Kanpur where one of them succumbed to injuries.

The deceased, aged between 25 and 35, have been identified as Babu Ram and Surendra Singh of Hamirpur and Sanjiv Singh of Kanpur.

The identities of the three others were not immediately known, Yadav said.
