Lucknow: Saints and seers in Allahabad held an elaborate puja and ‘havan’ on Thursday to offer prayers even as hearing on the Ayodhya issue resumed in the Supreme Court.

The seers led by Akhil Bhartiya Akhara Parishad president Mahant Narendra Giri, prayed for a verdict in favour of the Ram temple.

The saints collectively held a recitation of “Hanuman Chalisa” at the Bade Hanuman temple on the banks of Sangam.

“Lord Hanuman fulfils all wishes of Lord Ram and we are praying to him to remove obstacles in temple construction,” Mahant Narendra Giri said.

Other seers said that they were confident of the court verdict favouring temple construction and added that temple work was most likely to begin before the end of the year.

Meanwhile, even as the elaborate rituals ended on the banks of the Ganga, news came in that the Supreme Court had fixed March 14 as the date of the next hearing since some documentation was still incomplete.
