Chennai: The Supreme Court's definitive ruling on the formation of the Cauvery Management Board should help bring down temperature a notch in Tamil Nadu, which has been up in arms ever since the Centre skipped the six-week deadline on March 29. However, emotions have been running so high that extra security measures are being taken for the IPL match between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders in Chennai on Tuesday. While some fringe Tamil groups have announced they would be picketing the stadium near the Marina Beach, the Opposition leader MK Stalin, who is on a protest padayatra in the state, said in Thanjavur that the Cauvery agitation — the 'Retrieval of Cauvery Rights' march — would continue until April 12 and the next day they would be marching to the Raj Bhavan to explain matters to the Governor.

“At least now, central government should withdraw its petition seeking clarification on scheme. It should immediately take steps to form the CMB” Stalin said.  Minister Jayakumar, who conveys the official view on many matters, said that holding IPL matches in Chennai was upto the BCCI and that providing security was a task of the government.
