Lucknow: After celebrating Diwali in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath has asked officials to prepare for Holi celebrations on a massive scale in Barsana in Mathura.

Holi is one of the biggest festivals in Mathura where Lord Krishna plays with his ‘Gopis’. However, this will be the first time that a chief minister will be attending the celebrations.

“The idea is to popularize the event in such a manner that it begins to attract tourists from all over the world”, said an official.

Mr Yogi also directed that Ganga ‘aarti’ in Varanasi, Saryu ‘aarti’ in Ayodhya and Gomti ‘aarti’ in Lucknow should be held on a daily basis. He said that the state government would extend help for this, if needed.

“If rivers are not revered and saved, mankind will not survive. We must teach the people and young generations to respect the rivers. The river is a part of our culture and we must integrate it with our daily life”, he said.

The CM also explained that this would not only boost the economy of religious places importance but would also provide several employment opportunities.

Recently Yogi Adityanath decided to host the annual ‘Khichdi Mela’ at the Gorakhnath temple.
