Lucknow: The famous Gita Press in Gorakhpur is now preparing to publish the Gita in Urdu, but in Devnagri script.

About 15 years ago, the Gita Press had published an Urdu version of the Hindu scripture in Urdu script, which was an instant sellout.

“The idea behind publishing the Gita in Urdu, but in Devnagri script is to reach out to those who understand Urdu but cannot read the language. We had published the Urdu translation of the Gita in 2002, but the same could not be read by those who cannot read Urdu, especially the young generation of Muslims,” said Lalmani Tiwari, the production manager of Gita Press.

The new Gita in Urdu language, but in Devnagri script has been composed and the proof reading of the same has also been done. “We are in the process of edited the scripture and the book should be out by next month,” he said. The 176 page book will have 3,000 copies printed in the first order. The Gita Press has already published the Gita in 14 different languages.
