Unnao rape case: CBI files charge sheet against BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar

A minor girl was allegedly raped by the BJP MLA at his residence on June 4, 2017, where she had gone to his house seeking a job.

Lucknow: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) formally charged accused BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar in the Unnao rape case on Wednesday. 

A minor girl was allegedly raped by the BJP MLA at his residence on June 4, 2017, where she had gone to his house seeking a job.

The girl also tried to kill herself in front of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's residence in Lucknow alleging that no one was acting on her complaint.

Kuldeep Singh Sengar, was charged with kidnapping and criminal intimidation and under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

It was only after an Allahabad High Court, the CBI arrested Sengar, MLA from the Bangarmau assembly in Unnao district, saying the law and order machinery and officials were directly under his influence.

The victim's father was booked by the police under the Arms Act on April 3 earlier this year and put in jail on April 5. He later died in a hospital, with the postmortem report mentioning serious injuries on his body.
