Thane district sealed till April 15 to contain virus outbreak

After Mumbai city, Thane district is affected with the spread of Covid-19 pandemic with a police officer testing positive

Mumbai: The Mumbai police has issued a fresh order promulgating a ban on movement from Sunday to Tuesday seeking a curb on everything. The two days will not see a ban on essential services including groceries, medical, banking and others in Mumbai.

Meanwhile, the Thane collector has sealed the district borders till April 15 completely with all establishments shut, including the essential services. The orders were issued late on Friday and came into force from midnight soon after.

In the order, deputy commissioner of police (operations) Pranay Ashok stated that the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) pandemic call with the virus causing a threat to the life and safety of people. With the fresh order, the police stations have been asked to strictly execute them.

“The police have been asked to execute the orders as per the details mentioned in it barring the listed essential services, letting them to operate in Mumbai. The officials have been asked to implement the orders effectively,” said an officer of Mumbai police.

After Mumbai city, Thane district is affected with the spread of Covid-19 pandemic with a police officer from Mumbra police station also being found positive for the virus.

The said officer, a senior police inspector, is being treated at Nashik. After going to his native there, he was unwell and later he was found to have contracted the virus.
