Bhubaneswar: Communist Party of India (Marxist) or CPI (M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury on Friday called upon all secular parties in the country to unite against BJP. Mr Yechury, who arrived in Bhubaneswar on a two-day Odisha visit, stated that though CPM would not share the same platform with Congress, it would urge all anti-BJP forces to fight together.

When asked whether the party would enter into an alliance or seat sharing agreement with Odisha’s ruling party, BJD for the 2019 elections, Mr Yechury said, “We are in good terms with Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik and we want BJD to come forward to stop BJP.” He stated that strategy will be decided by CPM Committee.

“People in the country are burdened because of wrong economic policies of the BJP government at the Centre,” said Mr Yechury.
