Gujarat seeks Odisha help to tackle fallout

BHUBANESWAR: Gujarat government on Wednesday sought the help of Odisha government in preparedness to effectively face the Very Severe Cyclonic Storm (VSCS) ‘Vayu.”

Gujarat chief secretary JN Singh said the Odisha government with Central help had done a commendable job during Cyclone ‘Fani.’

“I talked to Odisha chief secretary about his experience and what could be implemented in case the need arises here in Gujarat. We will continue to take useful inputs from them,” the Gujarat chief secretary was quoted as saying to media.

Odisha chief secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi assured his Gujarat counterpart of all possible help.

“Initial discussion was held over evacuation procedures and our experience during cyclones Fani and Titli,” the Odisha chief secretary Mr Padhi said. “Vayu” is very likely to cross Gujarat coast between Porbandar and Mahuva around Veraval and Diu region as a very severe cyclonic storm.
