Amit Shah called as riot case witness
On a petition filed by Ms Kodnani, special SIT Judge P.B. Desai summoned Shah to appear on September 18.
Ahmedabad: A Gujarat court hearing the 2002 Naroda Gam riot case on Tuesday summoned BJP president Amit Shah to appear before it as a defence witness for former minister Maya Kodnani, who is an accused in the massacre of 11 people.
On a petition filed by Ms Kodnani, special SIT Judge P.B. Desai summoned Shah to appear on September 18.
Ms Kodnani’s advocate Amit Patel submitted before the court the residential address of Mr Shah in Thaltej area of Ahmedabad city, after which the summons were issued.
Ms Kodnani said that Mr Shah’s testimony will help prove her alibi. She wants to prove that she was not with rioters but was present at a hospital where bodies of the Godhra train tragedy were brought and Mr Shah was also present.
