Dara encounter: IPS officer acquitted

A local court has acquitted all the 14 policemen, including IPS officer A. Ponnuchami, in Dara Singh encounter case.

Jaipur: A local court has acquitted all the 14 policemen,  including IPS officer A. Ponnuchami, in Dara Singh encounter case. The court did not find any evidence against the accused.

The judgement came almost 12 years after these policemen were booked for killing Dara Singh in a fake encounter case. The court had completed the trial last month and reserved the verdict after hearing arguments from both the sides.

Those who were acquitted include Ponnuchami, ASP Ashrad Ali, Inspector Satyanarayan Godara, Inspector Nisar Khan, Inspector Naresh Sharma, Inspector Subhash Godara, sub inspector Rajesh Choudhary, sub-inspector Zulficar, sub inspector  Arvind Bhardwaj, sub inspector Surendra Singh, retired sub inspector Munshi Lal, head constable Badri Prasad, constable Jagram and police driver Sardar Singh.
