HD Kumaraswamy leaves to relax' for two days in Singapore

Reportedly, two days before the polls, Mr Kumaraswamy had fever and a throat infection after which he promised to rest.

Bengaluru: After 239 gruelling rallies and hectic poll related schedules, former chief minister and JD(S) state President Mr H.D. Kumaraswamy left for Singapore on

Sunday morning, apparently to be away from the hustle bustle of the poll for some time. Sources said that  Mr Kumaraswamy was accompanied by his son Mr Nikhil and both will return to Bengaluru on Monday evening, so that he would be available during the counting of votes on Tuesday.

Sources denied that there was any health reason behind the trip to Singapore. After the poll process was completed on Saturday, a number of people have been arriving at his residence to meet Mr Kumaraswamy and doctors wanted him to stay away from the crowds for at least two days. Mr Nikhil suggested that it would be better to stay out of the country for two days.

September, was a matter of concern for his family members as well as doctors during the campaign. Even before the poll process started, Mr Kumaraswamy frequently suffered from fever and throat infections. Though doctors had advised him complete rest for 15 days, Mr Kumaraswamy was not ready to follow the advice as he has been managing election campaign single handedly for the party.
