Bhopal: The ruling BJP landed in an embarrassing situation after a woman party leader from Madhya Pradesh shared a picture on her Facebook page in which she was seen sitting on the floor while talking to Union rural development minister Narendra Singh Tomar at the his official residence in Delhi.
Ramkli Choudhary, a member of Shivpuri district zila panchayat, however, came out with a clarification that she considered Mr Tomar as her elder brother and one of her family members when a section of local media made it an issue (of the Union minister not giving proper respect to a woman). Mr Tomar represents Gwalior Lok Sabha constituency.
Ms Choudhary was sitting on the floor while talking to Mr Tomar, who was sitting on a sofa. Incidentally, the photograph was later found withdrawn from her Facebook account.
“I met the Union minister in Delhi on September 11 to draw his attention towards the drought-like situation in Shivpuri district’s Pohra village in Madhya Pradesh. I was sitting on the sofa, but later came down to the floor while talking to the Union minister. He assured all help to mitigate plight of drought-hit farmers in my area. I consider Mr Tomar as my elder brother and one of my family members. I feel humiliated the way the issue has been covered in a section of the media,” she said.
