Ajit Jogi plans to run for Lok Sabha, eyes New Delhi
The alliance has secured 5 seats in the last assembly elections in Chhattisgarh. While JCC bagged three seats, BSP secured two seats.
Bhopal: Former chief minister and founder of Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (JCC) Ajit Jogi is planning to shift to Centre by contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Mr Jogi, who was elected from his traditional assembly constituency of Marwahi (ST) in Chhattisgarh in the 2018 polls, was planning to contest in Korba LS seat in the forthcoming elections, a spokesman of JCC said on Thursday.
“Mr Jogi has decided to shift to Central politics by contesting the LS elections,” the spokesman said. He also hinted at extension of alliance of JCC and BSP, stitched during the 2018 assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, to forthcoming LS polls in the state.
“Mr Jogi will begin talks with BSP supremo Mayawati in this regard very soon,” he added.

Mr Jogi had snapped three-decade-long association with Congress in 2016 to float the regional party after Congress expelled his son Amit Jogi, a former MLA, from the party in the wake of allegations of fixing an assembly by-election in the state.
