Bihar shelter case: CBI set to question key accused

The ED issued an order on Wednesday to attach assets worth Rs 7.30 crore, including 23 plots and three vehicles, belonging to Brajesh Thakur.

According to ED, accused Mohit Garg, Nitin Gupta, and Rajeev Singh Kushwaha used to collect demonetised form of currency from different persons and deposited them into the account of shell firms/ companies operated by Rajeev Singh Kushwaha.

New Delhi: A day after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) attached immovable properties allegedly belonging to Brajesh Thakur as part of its investigation in the Muzaffarpur shelter home sexual abuse case, the CBI is now preparing to examine Thakur again in connection with the same case.

Sources said, “The CBI needs fresh clarifications from Thakur. Certain victims in the case have made fresh allegations against him that need to be investigated. The agency sleuths may soon record his statement.”

The ED issued an order on Wednesday to attach assets worth Rs 7.30 crore, including 23 plots and three vehicles, belonging to Brajesh Thakur, the prime accused in the case.

The ED issued a provisional order under the PMLA for the attachment of assets of Thakur, the owner of the centre and NGO Sewa Sankalp Evam Vikas Samiti that ran it.

Immovable and movable properties consisting of 26 plots of land, three vehicles, bank balance in 37 accounts, and investments in mutual funds and insurance policies totalling to Rs 7.30 crore have already been attached by the ED.
