CM Adityanath conferred 'Dalit Mitra' award

He also thanked the chief minister for attempting to spread the ideology of Dr Ambedkar and launching several schemes that aimed to benefit dalits.

Lucknow: UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday was conferred the “Dalit Mitra” award by the Ambedkar Mahasabha.

The chief minister off-ered floral tributes to Dr Ambedkar on the occasion of his birth anniv-ersary and said that the dalit icon should be a role model because he came from a humble ba-ckground and attained high education and worked for the upliftment of the downtrodden.

Lalji Prasad Nirmal, who heads the Ambedkar Mahasabha, said that Mr Adityanath was conferred the award because he had ensured photographs of Dr Ambedkar in all government schools, police stations, government offi-ces and courts. The CM had also directed that Ambedkar Jayanti shou-ld be celebrated at all district headquarters.

“He is one leader who is working to promote the life and principles of Dr Ambedkar,” he said.
