Two militants gunned down in Kupwara

Two AK-47 rifles, two pistols, four AK magazines, two pistol magazines, two grenades were recovered.

Srinagar: Two suspected LeT militants, believed to have been involved in a suicide attack on an army camp in Panzgam last month, were gunned down by the security forces in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Sunday.

“Acting on specific information about the presence of militants in Waripora area of Handwara, the police along with ‘21 Rashtriya Rifles’ launched a search operation. During the operation, militants present in the area fired upon the search party. The fire was retaliated and in the ensuing encounter, two militants were killed,” a police spokesman said here.

He claimed the militants were affiliated with LeT, adding that their identity was being ascertained.
