Srinagar: Kashmiri separatists have welcomed the United Nations first ever human rights report on Kashmir saying it was long overdue and that UN has a moral obligation towards the people of the state divided between India and Pakistan. They also termed as “unfortunate” the rejection of the report by the Indian government.

The report by the office of United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights at Geneva published on Thursday says that there is an urgent need to address past and ongoing human rights violations and abuses and deliver justice for all people in Kashmir, who for seven decades have suffered a conflict that has claimed many lives.
