Unnao rape: Victim's kin demand security after threat

The second pertains to rioting and the alleged killing of the victim's father in judicial custody.

Lucknow: The Unnao rape victim’s uncle has claimed that the family faces a threat from the jailed MLA Kuldeep Sengar.

The girl’s uncle told reporters on Sunday that supporters of the MLA are threatening his family and their sympathisers in the village.

“They came in two cars and after that two people have gone missing,” he said.

He also claimed that the MLA’s brother Atul Sengar, who was arrested earlier for beating the girl’s father to death, was talking to villagers on phone from inside the jail and asking them not to support us.

The uncle said that the state government must provide them adequate security since they fear-ed a threat to their lives.

The rape victim and her family had been kept in a hotel in Unnao district after the SIT visited the Makhi village last week (April 11).

The victim and her family was brought to Lucknow on Saturday and the girl was sent for me-dical examination after which they were asked to return to their village.

Meanwhile, the three FIRs have been filed by the UP police in the case have been transferred to the CBI. The first FIR pertains to the alleged rape of the girl in which Kuldeep Sengar and Shashi Singh have been named as accused.

The second pertains to rioting and the alleged killing of the victim’s father in judicial custody.
