The VHP said it will intensify its campaign for the mandir if its demand for a legislation is not met but remained short of demanding an ordinance on the issue.

New Delhi: After the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA)’s latest edition of the “World Factbook” described the RSS affiliates — VHP and Bajrang Dal — as “religious militant organisations”, the VHP on Friday threatened to launch an agitation against the American intelligence agency if it do not change its classification of it. The VHP asked the CIA to apologise and “rectify its mistake” and also asked the government to take the matter up with Washington.

In a statement, the VHP called the CIA “anti-India” and sought an apology from it.

The RSS affiliate’s general secretary Surendra Jain said the organisation is a nationalist group which works for the country. Dr Jain in a statement said, “The CIA was responsible for creating Osama bin Laden and has no moral right to lecture it.”
