FIR filed against Kanhaiya over hospital ruckus
Opposition RJD seeks probe.
Patna: An FIR has been registered against former JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar and his supporters by AIIMS-Patna administration on Monday for creating a ruckus and misbehaving with doctors at the hospital.
The incident had occurred on Sunday when Kanhaiya along with his supporters went to meet AISF general secretary Sushil Kumar, who was being treated at the hospital. According to doctors, Kanhaiya and his supporters misbehaved with hospital employees and manhandled security guards when they tried to stop him.
“Kanhaiya Kumar and his supporters disrupted hospital work and also manhandled employees when they tried to stop them. Their behaviour also scared the patients at the hospital. We want strict action against him and all his supporters,” doctors said.
The issue has sparked strong political reactions in the state. Bihar health minister Mangal Pandey has assured strict action against Kanhaiya and his supporters for misbehaving with AIIMS doctors. He has also asked hospital administration to submit a detailed report of the incident.
The opposition RJD, while condemning the incident, has also demanded a probe into the case registered against Kanhaiya and his supporters.
“We want an enquiry into the case so that those who were involved should be punished”, RJD spokesperson Bhai Virendra said.
JD (U) spokesperson Sanjay Singh while calling the incident “shameful” said, “Kanhaiya Kumar is a repeat offender, case has been registered and the police will take stern action against him”. Kanhaiya Kumar is likely to contest 2019 general election on CPI ticket. Reports suggest that he has the support from RJD – Congress-led Mahagath-bandhan in Bihar. According to sources, CPI has already earmarked Begusarai Lok Sabha constituency for Kanhaiya but a formal announcement is likely to take place only after seat sharing is finalised.
