SIT arrests five in toilet scam case
The SIT had earlier arrested three persons including a senior banker in connection with the scam.
Patna: Five persons including two NGO functionaries were arrested in the Rs 15 -crore toilet construction scam case on Wednesday in Patna.
Patna Senior SP, Manu Maharaj who heads the Special Investigating Team (SIT) said that arrests were made after more evidence in the scam case emerged.
“Investigation in the toilet scam has progressed and five persons have been arrested. We will soon arrest other accused in the case”, Patna senior superintendent of police Manu Maharaj said.
The SIT had earlier arrested three persons including a senior banker in connection with the scam.
This has emerged as a major scam after Srijan of Bhagalpur in which over Rs 1000 Crore was allegedly diverted to the account of NGOs. Sources claim that the investigating team is also trying to find out whether government funds were embezzled in other districts of the state.
Reports suggest that role of government officials and NGOs are also under the scanner in Bhojpur district. On the other hand, the opposition RJD feels that the scam may exceed if “investigated properly”.
