Guwahati: National Security Adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval reviewed the internal security situation of the north-eastern states with top officials of the state government in New Delhi.
Informing that Assam chief secretary V.K. Pipersenia, DGP Mukesh Sahay, Union home secretary Rajiv Gouba, besides other top officials, were present in the meeting, security sources said that meeting, chaired by Mr Doval, took the stock of the law and order situation in the backdrop of growing polarisation in some of the minority-dominated areas of the state after the publication of first draft of National Register of Citizens (NRC).
It is significant that some groups have started flagging their demand of separate Barrak Valley in the wake of the absence of a large number of names of people from the Bengali-dominated area from the first draft of National Registrar of Citizens (NRC).
