Anger against ISIS rowdiness' in J&K

Srinagar: There has been anger and resentment in Kashmir Valley against the alleged misbehaviour and rowdiness paraded by a group of youth seemingly influenced by the ideology of the Islamic State or ISIS during the funeral of Eisa Fazili, one of the three militants killed by the security forces during an encounter in southern Anantnag district on March 11.

Eisa was a resident of Srinagar’s Ahmed Nagar locality and he and two other slain militants Syed Owais Shafi, also a local Kashmiri, and MD Taufeeq from Telangana were reportedly associated with the ISIS which is also known as Daesh by its Arabic acrymon.

Witnessed said that about fifteen daunting youth among thousands of mourners who turned up at Eisa’s funeral on Monday misbehaved with his family and other relatives and neighbours and forcibly took hold of his corpse only to place on it a flag which resembled that of the ISIS against their wish. “Even his mother was not allowed to kiss her son’s forehead in a final farewell,” a man who claimed to be a witness to the incident but did not want to be named said.

A debate is currently underway on social media on the incident wherein questions like whether such raucous conduct could be acceptable to the people of the Valley have been raised. “We should denounce the hooliganism of the fanboys of ISIS at the residence of Eisa Fazili. As society, this has to be made clear that we cannot expect hooliganism as part of our struggle,” wrote a Facebook user Muhammad Raafi on his timeline.
