As J&K moves towards normalcy, govt plans to work around these 4 focus groups
To avoid violent outbreaks in the valley, security will be made more stringent around these categories.
New Delhi: With gradual ease of restrictions imposed in Jammu & Kashmir (J&K), security agencies have shortlisted these 4 areas of focus to avoid violent outbreaks in the valley.
These target areas were decided by security agencies who are well aware of the current situation in J&K, News18 reported.
Following groups fall under the category of target areas:
Movers and Shakers: This group consists of members either from the Hurriyat conference or key political leaders.
Several leaders were put under house arrest and detained soon after the abrogation of Article 370 to manage this group effectively.
Banned outfits and terrorist organisations: To maintain peace along the border and restrict the movement of terrorists, a 'free hand' will be given to the Army.
Plans to review border security in Punjab and Jammu is also on the cards.
Stone throwers: This category consists of teenagers in large numbers.
20 family members and acquaintances of teenagers will have to sign 'community bond' which will ensure that they won't indulge in these activities at all.
Religious heads: To avoid any kind of instigation or violent protests, the government has decided to put restrictions on religious leaders. If required, they will also be arrested and dealt with harshly.
J&K was under lockdown for the past two weeks after article 370 was revoked the state was further divided into 2 Union Territories (UTs).
However, landline services were restored in some areas on Friday.
Schools in major areas of the valley are expected to reopen from Monday and further relaxation in the valley is expected.
