Kashmir: Miscreants escape with ATM holding over Rs 14 lakh

A case has been registered and a hunt launched to nab the accused and recover the stolen ATM.

As many as 1,328 cases (Rs 6 crore) related to ATM/Debit Cards, and 18 cases (Rs 1 crore) involving internet banking were reported during the period.

Srinagar: Unidentified persons escaped with an ATM, containing over Rs 14 lakh, in Anantnag district of south Kashmir, police said on Thursday.

The burglars struck at Mominabad village near Ashajipora, 55 km from Srinagar, in the wee hours and took away the Automated Teller Machine of Jammu and Kashmir Bank, a police official said.

Quoting bank officials, he said Rs 14,56,000 in cash were inside the machine.

A case has been registered and a hunt launched to nab the accused and recover the stolen ATM, the official said.
