1 dead, 6 injured, more than 40 feared trapped as building collapses in K'taka

Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy has instructed the officials to be at the site of collapse.

Dharwad: One person has died, 6 injured and nearly 40 feared trapped after an undercontruction building collapsed on Tuesday in Dharwad, Karnataka, news agency ANI reported.

So far, five people have been extricated from the debris and Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy has instructed the officials to be at the site of collapse.

Expressing his schock over the incident, Kumaraswamy tweeted, "Shocked to learn about the collapse of an under-construction building in Dharwad. I have instructed the Chief Secretary to supervise rescue operations. I have also directed the CS to send additional resources and expert rescuers by a special flight to Dharwad."

The rescue operation is underway.
