Mumbai: A "glaring error" in a school textbook in West Bengal has come to light after actor Farhan Akhtar tweeted about it.

In an unusual case of mistaken identity, the publishers of the book, while attempting to depict legendary athlete Milkha Singh, had used a picture of Farhan Akhtar as seen in the 2013 film, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, which was based on the life of the 'flying Sikh'.

The image was even captioned as "Milkha Singh" in Bengali.
After a Twitter user posted an image of the gaffe and tagged Farhan Akhtar, the actor was quick to respond.

He took to Twitter to urge the publishers of the book to recall and replace the book with the corrected information.

"To the Minister of School Education, West Bengal. There is a glaring error with the image used in one of the school text books to depict Milkha Singh-ji. Could you please request the publisher to recall and replace this book? Sincerely." he wrote on Twitter, tagging Rajya Sabha member and Trinamool Congress spokesperson, Derek O'Brien in his post.

In a later comment, the actor added that he had tagged the quizmaster because O'Brien "took education very seriously".

Derek O'Brien had replied saying that he would look into it.

Twitter users had several comments to make on the incident. Some speculated on which icon could be substituted next for their reel counterparts.

Others lamented that the textbook error was not even surprising to them.
