Bhubaneswar: A youth allegedly murdered three members of his family at Madhusudanpur village under Patkura police limits in Odisha’s Kendrapara district late last night.

Bikram Das, the accused, went absconding after the incident but was apprehended by pol-ice on Sunday.

The deceased were identified as Bikram’s grandfather Dhruba Das, his grandmother Saraswati Das and his aunt Pratima Das.

According to reports, Bikram returned home late on Saturday night in an inebriated state and thrashed his wife after an argument between the two. He also attacked his father and mother when they opposed the act.

When the deceased trio intervened in the matter, Bikram assaulted them with a sharp weapon killing Dhruba and Sara-swati on the spot.

Pratima sustained injuries in the attack and succumbed on the way to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. Bikram’s mother is stated to be critical and she has been hospitalised. Investigation into the matter is underway.
