New Delhi: It was celebration time at the BJP headquarters as the party won Himachal Pradesh and retained Gujarat on Monday. As soon as the result trends started pouring in, saffron party workers started celebrating by distributing sweets and playing drums. BJP president Amit Shah gave credit to party cadre and Prime Minister Narendra Modi led government's people centric schemes for the poll verdict. He also said that BJP led NDA's politics of performance defeated opposition's politics of appeasement, casteism and dynastic. Both Mr Shah and Mr Modi were showered with flower petals when their motorcade entered the party headquarters.

Both congratulated the party cadre for their hard work in both the states. Mr Shah said the country's development journey under Mr Modi has taken two more steps with these wins.

To celebrate party's winning streak in Gujarat, BJP Delhi unit spokesperson Tajinder Singh Bagga brought a cake with pictures of mushrooms on it and was seen distributing its slices.

The cake was in response to Congress leader Alpesh Thakur's claim that the Prime Minister ate imported mushroom from Taiwan.

“This is a simple, inexpensive cake but it is a befitting reply to those who brought politics to this level,” said Mr Bagga as he was joined by other BJP workers and supporters. BJP workers were seen carrying posters of “Ek hai tiger” with Mr Modi's photograph.
