New Delhi: Post assuming office as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Parliament today. He will also meet BJP President Amit Shah.

While Yogi’s meetings with Modi and Shah are said to be related to decisions on allocation of portfolios in the UP cabinet, the duo may have to deal with a power tussle emerging in the UP government.

According to an NDTV report, both Adityanath and Deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya want the Home portfolio. There is also a race for the Finance portfolio, which the other Deputy CM, Dinesh Singh, is seeking.

To resolve the crisis, Adityanath and Maurya have both appealed to the central leadership of BJP.

Adityanath is expected to also hold key ministries like education and health, said the report.

Adityanath reached the national capital today and is scheduled to meet Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley , following which he will call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Parliament.

He will then meet Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh at his residence, after which he will holds talks with President Pranab Mukherjee.

The Chief Minister later in the day will meet Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah, Union Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj and party veteran Lal Krishna Advani and then depart for Lucknow.

Adityanath, a five-time Lok Sabha MP from Gorakhpur, on March 19 was sworn-in as the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister while Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dinesh Sharma took oath as deputy chief ministers of the state.
