Lucknow: This year, inspite of the sale ban on crackers, the sellers in Lucknow had something humourous to offer. Just on the day of Diwali, the traders put out their hidden stock on sale which amused the buyers and sellers.

A number of firecrackers have also been named after politicians like Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath and Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi.

These firecrackers were marked with black humour. There was the “Yogi Chetawani Chatai” —the reference being Mr Yogi’s frequent warnings to  bureaucrats,  police officials and other government servants.

Following this was the “Modi Rocket” that came with the tagline of “dhadam se gire”. Also, the traders did not spare GST as they had spiral snakes that come out of “tablets” named as “GST kala saanp”,  (A cracker named after the goods and services tax introduced in July) and “Notebandi phus phus anars” (demonetisation “anar”).

These crackers were not put on sale prior to Diwali. “Marna hai kya? If we had put these crackers on sale, we would have had to spend Diwali in jail. This was our way of expressing our feelings and we made these crackers in limited numbers and put them for sale on the last day,” said a cracker seller.

A police officer of the same area, when asked, said that he was not aware of such crackers. “Aisa kuchh nahin hai. The media is trying to create false news,” he said. Photographs of the mischievously titled cracker packets, however, are now going viral on the social media.
