Long-term visas to Pak immigrants under scanner
A senior ministry official claimed that they were taking appropriate action to identify and correct the loopholes in the system if any.
New Delhi: The Union home ministry has initiated an internal probe into the exercise of providing long-term visa to Pakistani immigrants. The inquiry has been ordered in the wake of arrest of an home ministry official by the Rajasthan police for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe for providing similar visa to Pakistani nationals.
The ministry has also asked its foreigners division to expedite all pending cases of Pakistani immigrants who have applied either for Indian citizenship or extending their long-term visa (LTV).
A senior ministry official claimed that they were taking appropriate action to identify and correct the loopholes in the system if any. The official also confirmed that an investigation has been initiated into the arrest of a Ministry official by the police.
